Airborne 2027 23Aug43 from Chedburgh. Shot down by a night-fighter and crashed at L_hne [Löhme], 8 km SE of Bernau.
Those killed have no known graves.
P/O MacDonald was flying the last sortie of his first tour. In Germany there are two small towns bearing the name Lohme, though only one has the umlaut over the second letter. It is believed that BK801 crashed as described, though both towns are close to water.
